We just experienced Ender Wiggin defeat the hostile alien race we call the Buggers. Play sound effect of applause. This just in Ender Wiggin still does not even know that he has won. Everyone is cheering in crying in joy. Finally we don’t have to worry about alien invasions. Play Sound Effect (laser zap) Switch to Field Reporter: This is Little Bill reporting from the command school Eros. It’s all thanks to Col. Graff, Major Anderson and, a name everyone already knows, Mazer Rackham. These three individuals were the most influential to Ender’s development, mainly Col. Graff. They have been training him since he was first chosen to go to Battle School, before he was even born! Play sound effect (laser zap) Switch to Reporter in Studio: It’s appears that Ender Wiggin never knew he was fighting the battle at all. Since the beginning Col. Graff and Major Anderson were secretive and deceitful. The entire thing was a plot to make Ender do things that he would not normally do. So, I’m working at my homework, updating my blog, when suddenly I realize that the italics are BOLD. In fact in my last post anything in bold is supposed to be in italics. I just published this and looked at it on my blog, and it’s really starting to make my brain hurt. I think I’m just going to have to write the rest of this sentence with all the works in strikethrough. Are they also going to turn out BOLD!!? Ha! strikethrough works, but italics doesn’t. Italics is useful. Strikethrough is not. I am now playing in a band. In the band is Max C. (bass), Alex G. (drums), and me (guitar & vocals). Max’s dad is a big time percussionist. not only does he play the drums in multiple bands, but his dad also teaches drums. He also helps with percussion ensemble at W. Erskine Johnston public school. Here is Mr Cronkite’s percussion web site. So far we are undecided on the genre we can all agree on for the style of music to play. However, a few of the songs we are working on are Come as You Are (Nirvana), Imagine (John Lennon), and Still Alive (from the video game Portal). Another thing we are disputed on is the band’s name. We are debating over Candy Meltdown Apocalypse, or Confederate Mutant Aggression (both of these names have CMA–the initials of our first names). We are open to input from other people. This Saturday, my Grammie turns 75 years old. To celebrate, she has invited everyone to a party where we are all being asked to play some music. This is because my Grammie was a piano teacher and church organist and she loves music. Here’s a video of her playing Bach on the Organ two years ago. She has asked me to play a song with her. She will play the piano, and I will play the guitar. It is a song I don’t know yet but I will have to learn it by Saturday (Nov 7). It’s called Santa Lucia (apparently, it was a very popular song years ago). In Enders Game there is a genius (Ender) and he reminds me of the character Freak from “Freak the Mighty”. There both really smart and valuable to others. In “Ender’s Game”, Ender is important to the military because they believe he can save earth. Freak in the book “Freak the Mighty” is smart for his age and helps a strong and tall guy named Mighty. Mighty isn’t the brightest but Freak has no brawn and so Freak sits on Mighty’s shoulders and tells him what to do in there predicaments. In this way he is of value to Mighty. In this way I saw that Ender and Freak were the same. I am from Jazz grand pianos and kwasind engraved toilet paper. From WWI at Vimy Ridge to the Crabapple war from across the street. I’m from the treehouse out back by summer and the igloo out front by winter. I’m from the River of trout, rod lifted high. I’m from the satisfaction of Chicken Cordon Bleu after a long trek back from school. From shouts of “The Game!” and “I Lose!” |
